PADUCAH, Ky. - A Gainesville soldier's wife is scheduled to go on trial next week on charges of killing two of her children in a fire at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, three years ago.

Billi Jo Smallwood faces a maximum of life in prison if convicted.

The prosecution decided earlier this year not to seek the death penalty when Smallwood goes on trial Monday.

Her husband at the time of the fire was Army Specialist. Wayne Smallwood, a Gainesville native. The couple separated after the fire.
