The study area includes SR 52 from SR 60 to Wal-Mart Way, the intersecting local roadways and downtown Dahlonega.
"We are working to take all the pieces of the puzzle and incorporate them into one master plan for the area," said Steve Gooch, Georgia DOT Board member. "Dahlonega's Downtown Master Plan, North Georgia College and State University s Master Plan along with future development will all be a part of this comprehensive review. We will develop short term medium term, and long term recommendations to improve the flow of vehicular traffic, pedestrians and bicycle traffic, as well as, improving access along State Route 52."
The study is just beginning. The first Stakeholder Advisory Committee meeting is scheduled for 2:00 Thursday, October 28 at Dahlonega City Hall. The study will be completed by August, 2011.
