WINDER - A Barrow County woman has been arrested for allegedly scamming churches after being busted in a similar con last year during which she solicited money on behalf of Toys for Tots.

Winder police detective Rachel Love says 49-year-old Marsha Lynn Foster was arrested Tuesday at the Best Western motel in Winder and charged with Theft By Deception.

"The police department received information yesterday that Ms. Foster was (scamming) churches for monetary donations, food and even gift cards," Sgt. Love said.

Foster recently pleaded guilty the charges filed by Winder police last November for the crimes related to the collections of charitable donations in the name of Toys for Tots.

"Marsha Foster has preyed upon the generosity of those seeking to help others in (real) need," said the commander of the Winder Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, Lt. Frank Farr. "This behavior will not be tolerated within the city limits of Winder, Barrow County".

Anyone who feels they may have been a victim should Sgt. Love at (678) 425-6887.
