ATLANTA - The former athletic director at the University of Georgia is expected to enter a plea to a drunken driving charge in an Atlanta court.

Gainesville native Damon Evans resigned in July, shortly after he was arrested on charges of drunken driving, driving violations and refusing to submit to an alcohol test. He was with a 28-year-old woman who was not his wife at the time.

He subsequently resigned his post at UGA.

Evans is scheduled to appear Monday morning in Atlanta Municipal Court where he'll likely enter a plea. He faces a maximum one year in jail, a $1,000 fine and community service.
Damon Evans leaves a news conference in July at which he addressed the charges facing him.
