ATLANTA - A grand jury examining questionable land purchases in Gwinnett County has scheduled its last meeting and is expected to wrap up its work.

Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter said the special panel will meet Friday for a final time. A report of its findings is expected to be made public. The grand jury could also issue criminal indictments.

Porter called the grand jury last year after The Atlanta Journal-Constitution detailed five questionable buys of parkland and one aborted deal.

In one deal, county commissioners voted in 2007 to purchase land for a park and athletic fields. One commissioner, who was a friend of the landowner, suggested it be purchased for roughly $7 million more than the landowner paid for it two years earlier.
