WINDER - The Barrow County Sheriff's Office, along with other law enforcement officers, raided a house in Statham Sunday night that resulted in about 200 people being detained and numerous guns and drugs being confiscated.

The residence is at 525 Thurmond Road in Statham.

The operation lasted until the early hours of Monday and resulted in arrests for the illegal sales of alcohol and drugs.

The Barrow County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, the Monroe Police Department, the Lawrenceville Police Department, the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department, the Statham Police Department, the Georgia State Patrol, the Jefferson Police Department, the Winder Police Department, and the Barrow County Fire and Emergency Services.

"We will not tolerate this type of activity in Barrow County," said Sheriff Jud Smith. "We are very grateful for the amount of assistance we received from other local law enforcement and public safety personnel and this operation was very successful," the Sheriff added.

The operation required multiple agencies to coordinate with each other and time their arrivals to coincide with each other.

"In an operation of this size, with so many subjects and so many officers all converging in the same area, the potential for someone getting hurt is certainly present," explained Sheriff Smith. "However, this operation was very well planned and executed and I'm very proud to report no injuries to any officers from any jurisdiction that participated," added Sheriff Smith.

The investigation continued throughout the night and the number of suspects arrested and their charges will be released when those figures are available.
