The Wolves (5-1, 1-0 Region 6A-AA) flexed their defensive muscles from the beginning when Dylan Lee intercepted a Decatur pass on the third play of the game and returned it 29-yards for a touchdown. Buford would hold the Bulldogs to minus-7 yards in the first half and no first downs. They forced three Decatur turnovers and blocked two punts on special teams.
While the defense was shutting down Decatur, the Buford offense took advantage of five drives starting on the Decatur side of the field. Alex Ross passed for 132 yards and three touchdowns in just over one half of play. Backup QB Sam Clay also threw a touchdown pass. Paris Head caught two touchdown passes, Kurt Freitag caught one TD pass, and Lee caught added a TD catch for the Wolves
Eight different rushers would carry the ball for Buford for 116 yards rushing for the game. Nathan Staub ran for one score and Buford finished with 265 yards of offense for the game.
