New plea for help in locating missing woman

BLAIRSVILLE - The mother of a missing Blairsville woman has issued a new plea for help in finding her daughter.

Jo Ann Cornwell is asking the writer of an anonymous letter sent to police earlier this month to come forward. The letter indicated that the writer's grandson may have been involved in Kristi Cornwell's disappearance last summer.

As we reported January 7, an anonymous letter had been received by the Cherokee County, N.C. sheriff in which a woman talks about her grandson. The letter prompted the sheriff to ask the woman to call him but apparently that has not happened.

Authorities said the letter could be a lead into the disappearance of Cornwell, who police think may have been abducted by the same man who tried to kidnap a North Carolina woman. That incident happened just a few miles from the Union County road where Cornwell was last heard from while taking a walk last August.
