Boys basketball: Elephants survive shootout with West Hall

OAKWOOD -- Gainesville boys basketball coach Todd Cottrell knows there will be nights like Tuesday when his team struggles to find itself.

He also knows he can count on senior Blake Sims and junior A.J. Johnson to snap them out of it. The two combined to score the final 10 points for Gainesville, including two steals in the final minute, to help the Red Elephants survive a tremendous shooting night by West Hall in a wild, 66-62 win in Oakwood.

A.J. Johnson had a double-double to help Gainesville beat West Hall Tuesday night.
