ALTO - All lanes of Highway 365 near Jaemor Farms opened just over two hours after a mid-afternoon crash involving a tractor-trailer flat bed truck and a car Monday afternoon that sent one person to the hospital.

State Trooper Michael Talton has the accident under investigation and said the truck driver escaped without injury. He said the female driver of the car was flown by helicopter from the scene of the accident in the southbound lanes, which were closed until the flat bed and the badly wrecked car could be removed.

"The flatbed truck was attempting to back into a work area where they're doing some logging," Talton said. "The green car was heading southbound on 365 in the right lane and hit the truck as it crossed 365."

Talton said the car driver was taken by helicopter to Grady Hospital with some serious injuries. Troopers and deputies shut down the northbound lanes until the copter could land and take the victim to the hospital.

The wreck caused a massive traffic jam north and south; for a while backed-up southbound traffic was diverted northbound above the accident site, and northbound traffic waited for the southbound motorists who were periodically halted to allow northbound traffic to move at a slow pace through the area.

Both lanes were cleared and drivers resumed their normal speeds shortly before 5:00 p.m; the accident was reported shortly before 3:00 p.m.
