MARIETTA - Vice President Joe Biden is pledging the federal government's support to Georgia residents displaced by severe storms that swept through the region earlier this week.

Biden was in metro Atlanta today to survey flood damage and meet with residents at a Red Cross shelter in Marietta.

The Vice-President also announced that federal assistance has now been extended to seven Georgia counties, including Stephens County in northeast Georgia.
Other counties now eligible for federal help are Carroll, Cherokee, Cobb, Douglas, Paulding and Chattooga.

Meanwhile, the region is bracing for another round of rain. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the metro Atlanta area.
At least 9 deaths in Georgia and one in Alabama are blamed on the severe storms.
