UNDATED - They'll be cleaning up, drying out and assessing the damage today following flash-flooding along the Ellijay River yesterday.

Gilmer County fire and rescue personnel had to evacuate five homes because of rising water.

Residents in Ellijay tell Fox 5 they haven't seen the river that high since 2004 when the remnants of Hurricane Ivan moved through north Georgia.

Ellijay picked up 4 inches of rain within a matter of hours yesterday, leading to the flooding. Elsewhere in northeast Georgia, Buford got .86 of an inch; Clarkesville 1.34 inches; Gainesville, 1.20 inches; and Cumming, 86 of an inch.

More rain is forecast today and the rest of the week.
4 inches of rain in Ellijay Tuesday; 1.20 inches in Gainesville.
