ATLANTA - The academic standards that middle school athletes in Georgia must meet may be getting tougher.

The state Board of Education is considering an amendment to the "No Pass, No Play" rule.

It would require middle school athletes to pass 70 percent of their classes that carry grade promotion credits. Right now, they are required to pass five such classes.
