O'Donnell passes RMA past Banks County in 8-AA opener

GAINESVILLE - Alex O'Donnell passed for 232 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score to lead Riverside Military Academy to a come-from-behind 23-12 win over Banks County Friday in both teams' Region 8-AA opener.

The Eagles (1-1, 1-0 in region) trailed 12-0 in the first quarter before O'Donnell and the Riverside offense finally got going. O'Donnell was 11-for-20 with no interceptions.

Riverside cut the lead to 12-11 by halftime and then outscored the Leopards (0-2, 0-1) 12-0 in the second half.

Tight end Brandon McKinney had a big night with five catches for 149 yards. Richard Tribble and Aaron Gambrah each caught a touchdown pass for the Eagles.

Lucas Bersin played well on defense recording seven tackles and getting one interception.
