Volleyball: Lady Falcons open strong, GHS starts slow in Area 7-AAA

FLOWERY BRANCH - The Flowery Branch volleyball team opened its Area 7-AAA schedule with a three-game sweep of Lambert, Gainesville, and East Hall Tuesday night at home.

The Lady Falcons (7-7, 3-0 in area) beat Lambrt 2-0 (25-4, 25-15) led by strong net play from senior outside hitter Samantha Salyers and solid back-court play from senior Danielle Miller.

Flowery Branch won the second match against Gainesville 2-0 (25-13, 25-14) led by junior outside hitter Alexis Love and junior middle blocker Kathryn McMillin.

The Lady Falcons closed out the night with a win over East Hall 2-0 (25-21, 25-16) behind the serving and setting of sophomore McKenzie Grewett. Taylor Dickerson also played well for Flowery Branch.

The Falcons continue Area play next Tuesday at West Hall taking on the Lady Spartans and Creekview.

Gainesville (1-11, 0-3) fell 2-0 (25-20, 25-18) to Lambert; 2-0 to Flowery Branch (25-13, 25-14); and 2-1 to East Hall (15-25, 25-19, 25-14).

Katelyn Whelchel played well for the Lady Elephants with two blocks and two aces. Carmen Rae Torrey had three digs for Gainesville.
