CUMMING - The Georgia Department of Transportation announces road work will bring change at two intersections on State Route (SR) 9 next week in Forsyth County.

The new traffic signal for the intersection of SR 9 and Majors Road is in test mode now and is flashing. If testing goes well, the new signal will become operational Tuesday, September 1.

As the new signal becomes operational; work will begin at the intersection of SR 9 and Castleberry Road. Castleberry Road will be closed as it intersects SR 9 and will remain closed for 21 days. Crews must lower the grade of Castleberry Road to improve the sight distance for motorists turning from Castleberry onto State Route 9.

The detour route will direct traffic from State Route 9 to Majors Road to Castleberry Road.

"Please slow down along State Route 9 as this work occurs. These intersections improvements will aid traffic flow along the entire corridor. Thank you for your patience as work occurs," said Russell McMurry, DOT District Engineer.
