A 'bump in the road' on the way to annexations

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville City Council is still interested in moving ahead with the controversial "island" annexations, although two public hearings next week have had to be scrapped.

The hearings are having to be rescheduled because of an error in one of their legal ads, which says September 1 is a Monday instead of a Tuesday...The date in the second ad was correct.

City Manager Kip Padgett said the Mayor and Council want to make sure citizens have accurate information.
