GAINESVILLE - A Gainesville woman will have to stand trial for a $586,000 theft, after all.

A Hall County Superior Court jury this morning ruled that Charlotte Baghose is competent to stand trial on charges of stealing the money from the company she was working for at the time, ZF Industries.

As the second day of the competency trial began this morning, the state withdrew a motion for a directed verdict declaring Baghose competent. Shortly after that the matter went to the jury and it wasn't long before a verdict was in.

Selection of a jury to hear the theft charges against Baghose was scheduled to begin at 11:00 this morning.

There was conflicting testimony yesterday as to Baghose's mental ability to assist in her defense. (See earlier story.)
