Convenience store robbery

GAINESVILLE - No one was hurt early today when a clerk at the Shell Food Mart on Monroe Drive in Gainesville was robbed while closing the store.

The victim told police he was approached in the parking lot by a man who was armed with a pistol. He was forced back into the store where the handed over an undisclosed amount of money.

Sgt. Dale Cash of the Gainesville Police Department says the robbery happened about 2:30 this morning. Police and Hall County sheriff's deputies searched the area for the suspect for a time but he remains at large.

The suspect was described as "a tall slender male dressed in dark clothing and wearing a mask," according to Sgt. Cash.
