Hawkins to run for Congress

GAINESVILLE - Hall County Republican State Senator Lee Hawkins plans to kick off his congressional campaign next week, according to a press statement released Thursday.

Hawkins will make the formal announcement of his candidacy for the 9th District Congressional post on Tuesday, August 4 at his dental offices on Green Street in Gainesville. The 9th District seat is currently held by Nathan Deal, who is vacating the office to run for Governor.

The campaign kick-off, from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. on august 4, is open to the public at large.
