Georgia legend Smith hurt in car wreck

According to published reports, longtime University of Georgia broadcaster and chronicler Loran Smith suffered injuries in a serious car wreck this week in France, cutting short a vacation in Europe that would have included a trip to the British Open golf tournament.

Smith flew back to Atlanta on Wednesday after spending time in a French hospital. He needed 12 stitches to close a gash on his scalp, broke two ribs and had a concussion.
