Liquor by the drink sales up for a vote in Clarkesville

CLARKESVILLE - Now that the Clarkesville City Council has given its approval for a vote, citizens will get a chance to decide whether to allow liquor by the drink sales in the city.

Spencer Carr presented the request to the city council on June 9 on behalf of his clients Roger Morris and Jeff Morris, owners of The Copper Pot restaurant.

"And so all they do is adopt that language and put it on the ballot, and it gives the voters a chance to decide in November whether or not the city should adopt a liquor by the drink for consumption on the premises ordinance," he said.

Carr said the council approved the request by a 4-1 vote with councilman Bobby Webb dissenting.

Despite the sole vote against the request, Carr said he still feels confident that there is citizen support.

"I'm hopeful that it will be passed and am somewhat confident that it will be," he said.
