GAINESVILLE - A robbery was reported at a north Gainesville convenience store not long after daybreak Friday.

Gainesville police spokesman Brian Kelly said the hold-up was reported about 7:30 at the Kangaroo on Park Hill Drive.
The clerk at the store was not harmed and there were no customers at the store at the time.
Kelly said clerks are trained not to argue with a man with a gun.

"Property we can replace at any time but it's hard to replace a person," Lt. Kelly said. "We always tell citizens any time they're approached by someone of this nature to give them what they want and don't offer any resistance."
"Life is too valuable."

The suspect fled in the direction of Roper Hill Road across the street and remains at large. Kelly says tracking dogs were used briefly to search the area around Ridgecrest Apartments.
Kelly described him as a masked black male wearing all black clothing who got cash register receipts and left on foot.
