Bear sighting... in the lake

GAINESVILLE - A group of people visiting Lake Lanier recently spotted - and got pictures of - a bear swimming across Lake Lanier... about the same time there was a spate of "lion" sightings in the area.

Brandon Waldrip along with his wife, Michelle, and friends Shane and Jessica Booker were up from Panama City, Fla.

They were riding jet skis on Lake Lanier, north of the rowing center, when they spotted the bear swimming across the lake. They say when the animal spotted them, it reversed directions, swam back to shore and left the water.
