GAINESVILLE - It's one of the largest proposed developments in the Gainesville area to come along since the the economic downturn began.

The Hall County Planning Commission is being asked to approve rezoning that would clear the way for a mixed-use development on Price Road at Dudley Mill Road (also known as 5050 Price Road). (See link below for access to a map of the affected area.)

Single-family homes and a shopping center are planned on the 680-acre site where, just two years ago, a 1,000-home mixed-use development was in the works.

The request goes before Hall County planners July 20.

The 2007 proposal also included 14 acres that would be set aside for a future school as well as office/retail components. It was rejected by the Hall County Commissin in the face of stiff neighborhood opposition.
