The course was created by renowned designer Billy Fuller. Fuller, a graduate of North Carolina State University, launched his golf course design company in 2003 after spending fifteen years as a golf course superintendent at several prestigious courses throughout the Southeast, including five years at Augusta National Golf Club, home of The Masters. He also spent fifteen years working with Robert E. "Bob" Cupp of Cupp Design, Inc. as Design Associate and Senior Agronomist on over 130 courses across North America and England.
Some of Legacy on Lanier's features include: a fully stocked pro shop, new MiniVerde Bermuda greens, state-of-art irrigation-and Zoysia-lined Billy Bunkers, Fuller's own innovative bunker design developed during his tenure at August National Golf Club. Billy Bunkers have been installed in over 500 golf courses throughout North America.
"Great golf course design creates an enjoyable experience for players of all levels," states Fuller. "Whether you're a scratch player, or high handicapper, I want you coming off the 18th green, thinking about your next round, remembering what you've learned, and plotting what you'll do differently tomorrow."
Legacy on Lanier, Fuller says, offered "the perfect opportunity to create a strategic, but aesthetically pleasing golf experience."
Legacy on Lanier Golf Club also has named Brian Conley as its new golf pro. A University of Georgia graduate, Titleist PGM Scholarship Recipient, and Class A Member in the PGA of America, Brian brings to Legacy on Lanier over 11 years experience in management, marketing, and instruction in the golfing industry.
