Albany police chief John Proctor said 14-year-old Ladrona Hamilton had gone to Cordele, where her family lived previously, after the Friday incident but she was brought back to Albany on Saturday.
According to police documents, witnesses said they saw Hamilton arguing with 12-year-old Jamal Williams. They said she confronted Williams as he walked away and stabbed him once in the upper left chest.
Williams was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead, the report said.
Hamilton was also charged with aggravated assault and was taken to the Doughtery County Jail.
