Lightning pinpointed in N. Hall fire

GAINESVILLE - Lightning is listed as the probable cause of a fire early Thursday that destroyed a North Hall home.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said Friday that a large tree next to the 1,700-square-foot Highland Road dwelling had been hit by lightning leading investigators to believe that to be the cause of the fire.

Chief Kimbrell says the house was fully involved "and ready to collapse" when the first units arrived.

No one was at home at the time.
