White Co. Republican Party Chair resigns

CLEVELAND - White County Republican Party Chairman Josh Turner has resigned his position with the county organization.

Turner announced his resignation Monday night at a meeting of the party. T

"Since March of 2007, it has been my privilege to serve as the Chairman of the White County Republican Party. Over the past two and half years, our party has grown and prospered more than I could have ever imagined," he said.

Turner also said he is stepping down to accept a Field Representative position with the gubernatorial campaign of Nathan Deal.

State party rules prohibit Turner, as chairman, to endorse a candidate. Turner handed over the gavel to First Vice Chairman Jeff Hunt who will serve as Acting Chairman until a replacement is elected.
