Power restored

GAINESVILLE - The power is back on for a group of Gainesville residents who spent most of Thursday afternoon in the dark.

Officials with Georgia Power said a tree fell onto a pole in the Tower Heights neighborhood during the lunch hour.

Power crews replaced the broken pole and restored power to the Jesse Jewell Parkway, Dawsonville Highway, Alta Vista and Tower Heights areas around 4:30 p.m.

Businesses, homes and traffic lights in the area were temporarily affected.
