Habersham commission meets chamber request halfway

CLARKESVILLE - The Habersham County Commission has reinstated half the $27,000 in county funding requested this year by the Habersham County Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber chairman Martha Reabold had rallied chamber membership to request that the funding be restored. She said the money was "critical chamber's limited budget."

Chamber President and CEO Judy Taylor said Thursday morning that the commission, by a 3-2 vote, agreed to give the chamber $13,500.

"We are thankful for any amount that we get," Taylor said.
