TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State is getting another two weeks to respond to the NCAA over sanctions from a cheating scandal that could strip coach Bobby Bowden of 14 wins.

The NCAA's Committee on Infractions answered the school's appeal Tuesday but it was being kept secret by the NCAA. Now, the university gets 15 days to respond, but the case could linger for months.

Florida State is challenging a portion of the sanctions announced in March over an academic cheating scandal. Two dozen football players were among 61 Florida State athletes involved.

Bowden's 382 career wins is just one fewer than Penn State's Joe Paterno.
