ATLANA - Georgia's Transportation Board said it has selected 41 projects, three of those in the Gainesville DOT district, valued at $138 million to be completed with federal economic stimulus money.

DOT spokeswoman Teri Pope said the three projects in our area are repaving projects. They include: eight miles of Georgia Highway 365 from State Route 369 in Gainesville to State Route 52 in Lula; 6.2 miles of State Route 82 from the Barrow County line to State Route 211 Business in Jefferson; and 12 miles of State Route 63 from State Route 184 to State Route 365 in Banks, Franklin and Stephens counties.

Bids will be opened on June 19 for projects to be administered by the state Department of Transportation, and that construction is expected to begin in August.

The Board on Thursday also approved seeking bids in June for nine non-stimulus projects, which are estimated to cost $11.5 million and will be funded through traditional sources.
