ATHENS -- Georgia junior first baseman Rich Poythress along with senior Bryce Massanari, freshman Colby May and senior pitcher Trevor Holder earned 2009 All-SEC honors as voted on by the league coaches, it was announced Tuesday.

Poythress, a native of Grovetown, was named first team All-SEC after hitting .379 with 21 home runs and 77 RBI including a .360 average in league play. He is ranked in the top four in the SEC in seven statistical categories including second in batting average, hits and total bases, third in runs and RBI and fourth in home runs and slugging. Poythress needs just one RBI to break Gordon Beckham's single season school record 77 RBI last year, and he is the first player in Georgia history to record two 70 RBI seasons after driving in 75 runs a year ago. He was also named to the All-Defensive team for the second straight year.

Massanari, a native of Las Vegas, Nev., was named second team All-SEC as a designated hitter. He is htting .325 with 19 home runs and 55 RBI, and 13 of his 19 home runs have come in SEC games, tied for the second most home runs in league contests. Massanari leads the team with 24 two-out RBI and is ranked in the top 10 in the league in home runs, RBI, slugging percentage and total bases.

May, a native of Guyton, was named to the All-Freshman team after batting .343 with 11 home runs and 41 RBI. He has started all 55 games at third base for the Bulldogs and is second on the team with a .297 average in SEC games. May is also second on the team with 22 multiple RBI games this season.

Holder, a native of Birmingham, Ala., was named to the All-Defensive team after perfect fielding in 18 chances this season. His seven wins the season is tied for seventh in the league.

Georgia (35-20) will be back in action Wednesday when it faces No. 8 seed Ole Miss (40-15) in the SEC tournament at Regions Park in Hoover, Ala., at 2:30 p.m.
