Hit-and-run leaves one hosptialized, one in jail

GAINESVILLE - A Gainesville man is hospitalized in Atlanta following a hit-and-run in west Gainesville last night involving his motorcycle and a pickup.

Sgt. Dean Staples of the Gainesville Police Department says the accident happened about 8:45 at Dawsonville Highway and Washington Avenue when the pickup turned into the path of the motorcycle.

Sgt. Staples says Joshua Tumlin was life-flighted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta; the driver of the pickup, David Franklin Roberts also of Gainesville, was located about an hour later on Enota Avenue was arrested. Charges include DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
