WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama says the United States can't continue with a ``broken'' immigration system. He says it's not good for anybody.

The president is standing by his support for comprehensive immigration reform that includes an eventual path to citizenship for millions of foreigners in the country illegally. But he says his administration must convince Americans that it's doing everything it can to secure U.S. borders or it will be difficult to persuade people to embrace other reforms.

Obama is speaking at a news conference to mark his 100th day in office.
He says he hopes to work with key legislators to examine how legislation may take shape. In the meantime, he says his administration is taking administrative steps to address the matter.
