'Portraits in Gray' opens Fri. at history center

GAINESVILLE - Portraits in Gray: A Collection of Civil War Photography will open for visitors on Friday at the Northeast Georgia History Center in the rotating gallery.

Portraits in Gray allows you the opportunity to revisit the past, look into the face of war, and see the eyes of those who fought in the costliest war in our nationâ
Brothers Charles and John Hawkins, from a wealthy family of planters, became members of the 38th Georgia in 1861.
