U.S. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland released a statement on Friday saying that after talking with his family and supporters he has decided it is best to remain in Congress. The Grantville Republican says he believes he can make a difference in the House as a ``legislative fighter.''
Soon after Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle dropped out of the race for governor last week citing health problems Westmoreland said he was giving serious thought to getting in.
A former state lawmaker, Westmoreland is one of the more conservative members of Georgia's congressional delegation.
