BRASELTON - Braselton Town Council Member Ralph Richardson, Jr., plans to run for mayor this year.

Richardson will hold a kickoff celebration May 2. The event is being held at the park near downtown Braselton and will begin at noon.

"This kickoff celebration is not about me, but about the people of Braselton and the direction we'd like to take the Town in over the next four years," said Richardson. "Most politicians begin their campaign asking for campaign contributions, but I'm starting mine by hosting an event that will bring Braselton residents together and focus on serving them."

Richardson, a 55-year-old native of Braselton, is a small business owner as well as being retired from 26 years of service in the military.

"In addition to a focus on providing good service to Braselton taxpayers, I am the best candidate to provide positive leadership that brings us together and keep Braselton moving in the right direction," said Richardson.

"As a career senior non-commissioned officer in the Georgia Army National Guard, I developed my leadership skills in Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm, the 1996 Atlanta Centennial Park bombing and peacekeeping in Bosnia-Herzegovina," said Richardson. "This leadership experience combined with owning my own small businesses most of my adult life makes me uniquely qualified to serve as Mayor of Braselton."

Richardson added "In the current financial environment that our families face, it is more important than ever that we continue to be good stewards of Braselton's finances so that we can continue to prevent homeowners from having to pay property taxes," said Richardson.
