ATLANTA - Demonstrators are set to descend on the Georgia's Capitol Wednesday night for what's being billed as one of the largest anti-tax ``tea parties'' taking place around the country.

Organizers hope to draw a large crowd of Georgians angry over what they say is too much government spending and the Obama administration's proposed tax increases on wealthier Americans. A number of Georgia Republicans are scheduled to be on hand.

A spokesman for the Georgia Democratic Party, Martin Matheny, speaking with Fox 5, defended Congress and President Obama, though, says a lot of people are "hurting" because of the current state of the economy and that Washington is simply doing what it can to ease that hurt.

Organizers say there are some 1,800 tea party events scheduled around the country, styled off the pre-Revolutionary War demonstration in Boston.

A demonstration is also planned it Gainesville. It will take place between 4:00-6:00 at Poultry Park on Jesse Jewell Parkway.
