HELEN - Getting around tourist-rich Helen by foot should be easier and safer starting this summer.

The state Department of Transportation next Tuesday plans to install a pedestrian bridge over the Chattahoochee River... which means vehicles crossing the river will no longer have to share their bridge with pedestrians.

GDOT's Teri Pope says it should take one day to install the bridge but it won't be open to pedestrians for a couple of more months, at least.
