GAINESVILLE - Census workers are hitting the streets and roads of Hall, Gwinnett, Jackson and 28 other northeast Georgia, verifying addresses in advance of the start of next year's census.

Those are the counties served by the newly-opened Census Bureau office in Gainesville. The City of Gainesville, meanwhile, has issued a memo alerting residents about the door-to-door canvass.

The actual head count, itself, won't begin until April of next year.
