Lt. John Robertson of the Gainesville Police Department said "two female pedestrians attempted to cross Georgia Highway 369, Browns Bridge Road, near the intersection of Dixie Drive. Both were struck by a motorist traveling eastbound in a passenger car."
Lt. Robertson said both were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. At last check, one was in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries, and the other was listed as serious with numerous broken bones and internal injuries.
Robertson said the driver of the car was "emotionally shaken, but not injured.
He said the pedestrians were not in a marked crosswalk at the time they were hit.
