Gainesville layoffs

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville City Hall confirms that three people whose jobs are directly affected by the slowdown in development have been laid off.
A spokeswoman for the city said Friday that the layoffs involve a building inspector, a planning and zoning analyst, and a code enforcement officer.
Other local governments in nearby counties have taken similar action in recent months as a result of the recession.
