RALEIGH, N.C. -- Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton is the Atlantic Coast Conference coach of the year after guiding the Seminoles to a national ranking and a top-four finish in the league.

Hamilton earned 55 of 76 votes from Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association members in results released Tuesday. Boston College's Al Skinner was second with 10 votes, while Wake Forest's Dino Gaudio was third.

The Seminoles were picked to finish 10th in the league in the preseason, but they ended the regular season at 23-8 with a No. 22 national ranking. The Seminoles finished fourth in the league to earn a first-round bye in this week's league tournament.

Hamilton is the second Florida State coach to win the award, joining Pat Kennedy in 1992.
