Major Todd Druse with the Barrow County Sheriff's Office said Bruce Edward Smith, Sr., 47, turned himself in to authorities on February 12. Smith had been questioned by investigators in connection with the December 2005 fire that damaged New Life Deliverance Church. He was charged with arson, conspiracy to commit a crime and vandalism to a place of worship.
Major Druse said the investigation is ongoing. "We are still looking into the possibility of other suspects," he said.
A former pastor of the church Quincy Arnold, 49, of Lawrenceville was arrested last week. Arnold's son Maurice Arnold, 24, of Dacula, was arrested in January.
