CUMMING - Green space is getting a boost in Forsyth County.

The Georgia Urban Forest Council is giving the county a Tree Legacy Grant of $20,000. The money will help cover the cost of adding about 100 trees to Central Park.

Forsyth County spokeswoman Jodi Gardner says the county will contribute $19,000 to the project from its own tree-replacement fund.

"Forsyth County is continually making efforts to lead by example and certainly
recognizes the importance of trees in regards to quality of life and environmental health of the community," Commission Chairman Charles Laughinghouse said.

Central Park was chosen for the trees because of the lack of trees there.
