GAINESVILLE - A delegation from Beechwood Estates pleaded with the Gainesville City Council Thursday morning for more police protection for their neighborhood.

In addressing the council, a spokeswoman for the group said there is a problem with unruly juveniles, house break-ins, and possible gang activity in the subdivision which is on Dawsonville Highway.

Police chief Frank Hooper was at the meeting and said, while he can't station an officer in the subdivision at all times, he would suggest the formation of a Neighborhood Watch Program.
