Basketball: Big second half carries Lakeview past Social Circle

SOCIAL CIRCLE - Lakeview Academy kept pace with Athens Academy for second place in Region 8-A with a 61-47 win over Social Circle Friday night on the the road.

The Lions (16-7, 12-2 in region) outscored the Redskins 18-4 in the third quarter to blow open a close game at halftime and then cruised in the fourth quarter.

The game was tied at 9-9 after the first quarter and the Lions led just 27-26 at halftime.

Daniel Olvera led Lakeview with 14 points. Jordan Chastain had 11 points and Jake Kendrick eight for the Lions.

Jeffrey Meadows had 10 points and Devarius Pitts eight to lead Social Circle (7-11, 6-8).
