Brittiny and Gregg Peters made national news after they put everything they owned up for sale on the online auction and got a winning bid from a Ft. Worth, Texas, family. But Donnia and Keith Blair wouldn't take the Peters' belongings.
Now the couple is planning to give a few things away. They will turn over a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe to a program for drug-addicted men and are working with their family minister on a plan to give other things away.
A Gainesville couple has found a buyer after offering almost all their possessions for auction on eBay to pay their children's medical bills.
The auction for Gregg and Brittiny Peters' belongings ended Thursday morning. A woman in Texas placed the final bid of $20,000 for the couple's goods.
They will keep their house and some bedding but sold other items, including their 2002 Chevy Tahoe and their 52-inch television.
The Peters have three children. Their 7-year-old daughter has an autoimmune disorder that sent her to the hospital last year. A younger son requires speech, physical and behavioral therapy.
The couple says they will use $15,000 to pay their bills. The rest will go into an emergency fund.
